Where do you stand on ABORTION?
I know this is a very hot topic on so many levels and I will probably ruffle a few feathers writing this but I feel God is leading me and I must follow.
The 26th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1971, lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 years old. So, in 1972 when I was old enough to vote, I followed my father and voted Democrat. Democrats lost that year. Republican Pres. Richard M. Nixon was elected to a second term, defeating Democrat George McGovern in one of the largest landslides in U.S. history.
Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113, a landmark decision, was issued a year later in 1973 by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of the constitutionality of laws that criminalized or restricted access to abortions.
I didn’t follow politics or arguements regarding Roe vs Wade that much back then. Maybe I was naive or just too busy starting a new career as a Maternity nurse at a local Hospital. Besides, I had been brought up Catholic and there were all kinds of taboos and rules regarding sex, boys and marriage.
Shucks, the Nuns told us it was a sin to kiss a boy on the first date and that we were never to stand next to a boy with shiny shoes because he only wants to look up your dress. Did anyone else get this kind of advice?
Birth control was taboo but everyone I knew used it. Nuns were leaving the religious life and marrying priests, divorce was becoming more acceptable and pregnant teenage girls were shipped off to homes for unwed mothers.
I was only concerned with politics if and when there was an election and I had always voted straight Democrat anyway because I felt it my duty…at least that’s what my father had always said. That was my life then. Now it’s different.
Years ago, I realized there was so much mud slinging from both parties during an election year, that you needed to wear boots and rain gear. Who was lying? Who was telling the truth? My Democratic responsibility became blurred. There was too much FIGHTING and ARGUEING so I made a decision to ignor the strict party line I had followed for most of my adult life.
At the time that I made this decision, I was in the throngs of searching for my birth mother. Fights over Roe vs Wade were in the news. Protests at Abortion Clinics were all over the news so this decision made by the Supreme Court in 1973 was making headlines and the idea of Abortion suddenly became personal.
I discovered that my birth mother was single and 18 years old living in Chicago, Illinois in 1952 when she became pregnant with me. Listening to all the fighting over Abortion, I realized that my birth mother could have aborted ME! Things were different in 1951 when she found out she was pregnant. The number of abortions in 1952 are hard to calculate because they were done in secret.
I found that the methods used in an Abortion were often ineffective and dangerous. Desperate women were driven into back alleys, where they endured danger and sometimes sexual abuse. Treatments women took by mouth included turpentine and bleach
or the insertion of foreign bodies such as coat hangers, knitting needles, bicycle spokes, ball-point pens, chicken bones and rubber catheters were used. Some women threw themselves off of stairs or roofs in an attempt to end a pregnancy. If an abortion was not performed, young girls who became pregnant, were often sent away to stay with relatives and babies would simply disappear.
All of this is horrifying. I understand the consenses at the time was to legalize Abortion to prevent these unimaginable things from happening, however…yes there is a however…ABORTION, legal or not IS WRONG.
God’s commandment says “THOU SHALT NOT KILL.” If you believe in God, if you believe that the Bible…all of it.. not only the parts that you like or that don’t conflict with your lifestyle…is the Word of God, the Inspired Word of God and is God breathed as 2 Timothy 3:16 says..then you must believe “THOU SHALT NOT KILL.”
Life is precious and a gift from God. Life begins at conception. In Psalms 139:13 and 15 it says 13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
My Mother could have Aborted me. I may have been cut and pulled from her womb with a coat hanger around my neck. She might have drunk bleach or worse, ended her life by jumping off a building, but she didn’t. She knew in her heart of hearts that it was wrong.
So here I am writing to you, 68 years later, reminding you how precious my life is to me and to all the unborn babies.
I would not be here. You would not be here. Our children and grandchildren would not be here, if either of our mothers had aborted us. We are all gifts to this world from God and there’s no way of knowing the impact we have on the lives we touch or the effect we have on the world while we are here.
According to the tracking service Worldometers there were over 42.3 million abortions world wide in 2019. Wouldn’t it be sad to think that one of those Aborted babies was carrying a gift from God to cure a loved one’s or your cancer or diabetes? Maybe they would have saved someone caught in a fire, rescued a child from a molester, caught the terrorist before he blew up the World Trade Center or maybe they would have been here now to find a cure for covid 19.
Kamala Harris is running as Joe Biden’s Democratic, Vice President nominee. She believes in Abortion. In fact she believes that it is a woman’s right to kill a baby at any time even up to the time of birth.
If Joe Biden does’nt believe in killing baby’s, even at full term, then he should have picked a different running mate. He stands with Kamala Harris who believes in ABORTION and who would have stood by and watched me be killed.
It’s a BABY!! OMG!! Would you stand by and watch someone end this life?…Kamala would.
or this one…
Or leave this one to die crying on a table because it didn’t die when an abortion failed?
How about this full term baby? Kamala says she defends the right of a mother to kill a full term baby.
According to Life News.com, during a recent interview, Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris defended abortions up to birth. The California Senator said she supports women making the decision whether or not to terminate the life of their unborn baby even if that abortion occurs just before birth.
My friends, I know this post is long. I know it is offensive to some of you, but I needed to speak out for all those that can not speak for themselves. ABORTION IS WRONG according to the God who gave me life in my Mother’s womb.
Kamala Harris and Joe Biden believe in Abortion. They believe that a baby life does’nt matter and a mother has the right to kill it if she wants to.
It doesn’t matter to me what party you belong to. For years now my vote has not been tempered by party lines. I am no longer Democrat or Republican. My vote is based on who stands for the unborn. To me that says volumes about the person running for office.
If the candidate doesn’t stand up for the rights of the least of us, the most vulnerable among us, how can I expect them to stand up for me and what’s best for me?
You have a choice. I beg you to stand for the unborn gifts from God, the ones that can not speak for themselves.
Now, I know there are those that have had an abortion or are considering to have one and I want you to know that this is not written to accuse you or judge you. I have not walked in your shoes. God knows you. I don’t. He knows your heart. He offers healing and forgiveness. He offers answers to whatever you are facing. Talk to Him. He knows.
I am thankful that I am alive, that I am here, that my Birth Mother did NOT abort me, that God has blessed me with beautiful children and grandchildren and that I live in a democracy and have the freedom to voice my opinion and to vote…vote for the rights of those that can not vote.
I want to end with a prayer that God will guide us in all our decisions, no matter what path we are on and wherever He leads us. I ask that God heals the broken hearted, gives wisdom and discernment to those searching for answers, that He forgives us all for our mistakes and that He leads us to do His will in all things. Amen
From My Heart to Yours and from the voice of the unborn to your ears…
